We discussed Dave’s current position with ICC and his experience with California Housing and Community Development (HCD) and the California Building Code (CBC) Chapter 11A rewrite. We also discuss his the former position as the Executive Director of the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) where he worked on the nation’s first green code as well as facilitating the first meetings of the California Commission on Disabled Access (CCDA). DSA Summary of 2016 California Building Code Changes for Accessibility provides a brief overview of the changes to definitions (Chapter 2) and accessibility provisions (Chapter 11B) and includes new scoping and technical provisions specific to electric vehicle charging stations. DSA Announced the Project Type for the Feb. 2017 Open Book CASp Exam The project type for the open book portion of the Certified Access Specialist (CASp) examination on Feb. 8, 2017, is the new construction of a public housing facility for individuals 55 and older. A List of Reference Materials is available. Details on the next CASp examination are as follows: Feb. 8, 2017 — Oakland and Los Angeles (Hawthorne). Open Book — Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. Closed Book — Check in begins at 12:30 p.m. Registration closes on Jan. 9, 2017. Additional Exams The following exam dates and locations are tentative and not yet available for registration: June 28, 2017: Sacramento and Riverside October 11, 2017: Oakland and Anaheim
