In this episode we discussed some of the challenges and shared our thoughts regarding the profession of ADA consulting. Including what must be discussed with your client, items to consider to determine your fee and supplemental services, how to avoid misunderstandings between the client and consultant and tips for scheduling evaluations.
Questions answered this episode:
- There are 3 duplex buildings and 1 single unit on a parcel. All units are multi story units with no elevator. Do the requirements of CBC Section 1102A.3.1 for Multistory apartment dwellings apply? What do you guys think?
- I have been asked to help the local historic society with the ADA requirements for an informational signs. The society would like to place 9 sign posts around the city with historical information on it by means of an audio recording obtained thru their smart phone by means of a bar code scan. There is information written on the post sign explaining what the Historic Society is trying to accomplish thru these informational posts. My question is what do we need to provide in braille on the post explaining the use of the bar code?
- I am looking at a county courthouse with about 20 private offices including the judges chambers on the 3rd floor. The building was built in the 1970’s and the door to each
of those 20 offices is less than 32 inches net clear. This space is for employees only. The inspector made the contractor widen every door on the floor. Is this correct?
